Article history: Received on: 17/08/2016 Revised on: 20/09/2016 Accepted on: 03/10/2016 Available online: 20/01/2017 Klebsiella species known to exhibit important PGP traits like solubilization of phosphate, phytohormone production and good germination potential. In present study, based on the Phosphate solubilization and IAA production bacterial strain VRE36 was selected among the isolates collected from different sugarcane cultivar rhizosphere growing near Bardoli area for characterization and molecular identification through 16S rRNA gene sequence, which confirms the isolate as Klebsiella pneumoniae. The phosphate solubilization index of the isolate recorded was 3.9 and quantitative estimation reveals 17.4±1.78μg/ml release of phosphate in NBRIP broth. The high amount of IAA produced was 45.32±2.46μg/ml after 96 hour incubation at 37 °C. In seed germination assay with V radiate, C tetragonoloba and V unguiculata, treatments with bacteria were supported good plant height, dry weight and fresh weight when compared with controls. Maximum percentage of germination was recorded in V radiate (97.78%). The improved seedling parameters of the inoculated crop seeds indicated the potential of this isolate to be used in a bio-fertilizer formulation for sustainable production.

Nitrogen Fixation and Indole Acetic Acid Production Potential of Bacteria Isolated from Rhizosphere of Sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.)
Twelve bacterial strains were isolated from root and rhizosphere samples collected from different sugarcane growing areas. Of these strains, ten strains were identified as Pseudomonas and two as Azotobacter on the basis of colonyand cell-morphology. Among isolates the presence of nifH gene was detected only in two Azotobacter strains (Azoto1 and Azoto2). Acetylene reduction activity of the stra...
متن کاملPlant Growth-Promoting Rhizobacteria Inoculation to Enhance Vegetative Growth, Nitrogen Fixation and Nitrogen Remobilisation of Maize under Greenhouse Conditions
Plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) may provide a biological alternative to fix atmospheric N2 and delay N remobilisation in maize plant to increase crop yield, based on an understanding that plant-N remobilisation is directly correlated to its plant senescence. Thus, four PGPR strains were selected from a series of bacterial strains isolated from maize roots at two locations in Malaysi...
متن کاملRFLP mapping in cultivated sugarcane (Saccharum spp.): genome organization in a highly polyploid and aneuploid interspecific hybrid.
Sugarcane cultivars are polyploid, aneuploid, interspecific hybrids between the domesticated species Saccharum officinarum and the wild relative S. spontaneum. Cultivar chromosome numbers range from 100 to 130 with approximately 10% contributed by S. spontaneum. We have undertaken a mapping study on the progeny of a selfed cultivar, R570, to analyze this complex genome structure. A set of 128 r...
متن کاملThe two chromosomes of the mitochondrial genome of a sugarcane cultivar: assembly and recombination analysis using long PacBio reads
Sugarcane accounts for a large portion of the worlds sugar production. Modern commercial cultivars are complex hybrids of S. officinarum and several other Saccharum species. Historical records identify New Guinea as the origin of S. officinarum and that a small number of plants originating from there were used to generate all modern commercial cultivars. The mitochondrial genome can be a useful...
متن کاملDetection of magA Gene in Klebsiella spp. Isolated from Clinical Samples
Objective(s): Klebsiella infections are caused mainly by K. pneumoniae and K. oxytoca. In the last two decades, a new type of invasive Klebsiella pneumoniae which contains mucoviscosity-associated gene (magA) has emerged. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of magA gene and to detect antimicrobial susceptibility patterns of Klebsiella spp. isolated from clinical samples....
